A few young people from Community of Hope huddled together late one evening in Madh Island seeking God. We worshiped together, prayed and sought His face. We were ready to go, we just needed to know what was on God’s heart for this nation. The Word we got that night was from Isaiah 61:1, “The Spirit of the Sovereign Lord is on me, because the Lord has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives and release from darkness for the prisoners.” We knew that God was calling us to proclaim freedom to youth of our nation. A short brainstorm meet later, Soul Freedom was birthed. We decided to do something every year for young people that will create an atmosphere for them to experience God in a raw and unconditional way.
For the first three years, Soul Freedom was a conference in Mumbai but in 2013, we felt a strong burden to take it outside the confines of the city and spend 3-4 days of quality time with the young people attending and with God. It has been life-changing for many. Many have testimonies of change and stories of transformation and, true to its name, Soul Freedom has been a medium of change and freedom in lives of many young people.
Each year, we seek God for what’s on His heart for that year and accordingly plan and execute the camp. We have a big team of volunteers and organisers that come together to give selflessly of their time, creativity and gifts. We truly believe that God is going to take this movement to the nations and beyond.
